I have written about Gratitude before – (check out my thoughts on Double Happiness). I have been practising it for a while now.
Finding the pleasure in small moments – really focusing on all that is good in life – and very quickly discovering just how things are not only good but
G. R. A. N. D.
And gratitude has led – firstly to more gratitude, then quickly it has helped me develop my abundance mindset.
To feel abundant in many areas of my life.
After nearly 2 decades I am now, no longer a subscriber to the corporate plan, not a salary earner anymore- and this has been an immense growing period for me. To see that I receive many things – wonderful, useful, exciting things and to give thanks for them when they land – seemingly right in my lap.
Since I have opened my eyes and my heart up to gratitude, I have won competitions – including tickets to events, homewares, clothing vouchers, I have met kindred souls and received countless connections involving life coaching, financial coaching, yoga coaching – all things that have come my way – and brightened my way – leaving me all the better for it.
I have often considered myself to not be lucky – always telling the story of never winning anything except my lunch money back in early primary school.
Well now not only do I feel extremely lucky but I feel a calm deep flowing sense that it all will turn out – which gives me the space to dwell in my heart for a while and feel that luck
lucky to be here
lucky to be part of the plan
lucky to be waking up – finally
But here’s the thing – it’s an ongoing process – one that I will keep learning and relearning for the rest of my time here – I’m okay with that – but I have made a little connection – I’ve joined some dots and seen a way that I might be able to strengthen this gratitude muscle some more.
Just like a work-out, you need to mix things up a little – work your muscles a different way. So while doing some homework – for some financial coaching I am currently immersed in (more on that once I’m done), I was asked to do a self value exercise – where you need to list 3 things a day (different each day) of what you value about yourself.
Immediately I saw the connection – it really is being grateful for something about yourself. Now this does not often make my gratitude list and I can instantly see how focusing my gratitude on myself is really going to shake things up a bit – for the better. So let me start by listing here 3 things I am grateful for – about myself –
My clear voice – that allows me to read aloud to my children at night
My nimble fingers – that allow me to type this post efficiently on my laptop
My strong arms – that allow me to show both my husband and my boys how much I love them through my hugs
Now it’s your turn – 3 things about yourself now – in the comments…
What a lovely and touching post!
I am grateful to my body for healing itself through everything I put it through.
I am grateful for the opportunities in my life.
I am grateful for the sunny day we had today.
Much love xx
Thanks Ariadne x, our bodies are certainly strong, magical, beautiful creatures who despite what we put them through, do so much for us. Thanks for sharing beautiful. Xx
So lovely – gratitude changes everything! I recently started using a new day planner (the Day Designer), which has a space to write a daily gratitude list. It’s my favorite part of the day.
That sounds perfect Lauren. Now you can add yourself to the list. X
My curiosity – I have learned so many things in my time on this planet, both inside and outside my head.
My sense of wonder – being a parent does wonders for your sense of wonder! And that’s just one part of my life.
My sight – the icing on the cake of the previous two things.
Oh yes, I have to incorporate this into my practice. And I’ve just realised why I need to be grateful for my innate sense of laziness (and trust me, I am)!!!
Beautiful! Thanks Helen enjoy discovering more wonderful things about yourself. X
