Why I write

write

This week on the blog I am sharing the “WHY” behind my writing.  One of my treasured blogging sisters nominated me to carry on a blog-hop post that is going around the blogging world at the moment where I get to reveal a little bit about my process and my purpose.

Tash from over at Healthy You, Happy Me has become a shining pocket of joy in my life and is partly responsible for not only helping me to shine but to reignite my love affair with dance and movement (with the added benefit of exercise along the way). If you haven’t yet checked out Tash’s online home – do so here

But now down to the business of questions and answers…

What am I working on?

My blogging journey is a self healing one and at the very centre of what I am working on is ME.  My guiding word for 2014 is BUILD and after years of Self-Neglect (Yes – guilty as charged), I am stripping away all of those beliefs and constraints I have placed up on myself, and I am building a new way of living. The focus of this new way is to live my joy, be happy and to share what I enjoy, to not only heal myself but to inspire others.

So what does this look like on a day to day basis?

Building

– infusing my slice of the internet with my story and my passion for colour

– adding to my knowledge base & skills – I am just about to complete a course in colour therapy and I am now faced with the exciting decision of “What next?”

A few things on my radar are Reiki Healing, Crystal Therapy, Aura Soma, Massage Therapy.

Creating

– I am also letting my creative self out to play – creating colourful artwork – for the pure joy of it.   I am currently designing, testing, and refining a colourful products range that is bringing together my passion and newfound knowledge.

How does my writing differ from others in this genre?

I am not sure that I fit into a specific genre – so perhaps there is my difference right there. My focus is not nutrition based or business, life or health coaching. My writing is based on my observations – my take on things. As we are all individually one of a kind, so too my writing reflects that.

Why do I Write?

Writing for me is part of my healing process. When you get to the crux of it, I write for myself. For too many years I denied my voice and to tell you the truth, once I started to write, the floodgates have opened and I couldn’t stop.  Writing for me gives me clarity. It feels as though writing allows me to un-jumble my puzzle pieces – turn them right side up, figure out the corners and the edges. And then the magic and the beauty is to be found when I receive feedback and comments from others on my posts.  All of a sudden some of those pieces lock into place. I think this wonderful world of sharing our stories is a great way for us all to help shine a light on each other’s puzzles.

How does my writing process work?

I love to write with minimal distractions.  Often the words and ideas have been brewing inside for days, and when I get the chance, the flow is not easily stemmed. Ideally it is child free time, with classical music playing in my ears, a scented candle burning, crystals surrounding me, and no visual links to the pile of washing to be sorted, or the kids toys to be put away. The final finessing and image sourcing etc., is done sporadically throughout the day but the real writing often happens at night when the rest of the house sleeps – and the cat is curled up on my lap.

Passing on the Baton

I am passing on this blog-hop baton to 3 women who I have been greatly inspired by in my journey. These gorgeous gals can take up the challenge to reveal their process and their purpose – so don’t forget to check them out.
